  17. <p>    There's this kid from Vermont, see, a real innocent. Goes to
  18. the big city and gets involved with a major Mafia boss. Even with
  19. a bare-bones plot, any casting director knows the perfect pairing.
  20. The surprise is that both actors said yes. Matthew Broderick signed
  21. for a new film, The Freshman, largely for the chance to work with
  22. the godfather himself, Marlon Brando, who is taking his first major
  23. movie role in a decade. While running through lines in rehearsals,
  24. Brando horsed around by playing the part of Broderick's girlfriend.
  25. "I thought he was quite good," says Broderick. "But physically, he
  26. was all wrong." That about sizes it up.
